About me

Dr Mohgah Elsheikh

Thank you for visiting my website. I am an experienced consultant Endocrinologist with a clinical practice that includes all aspects of diabetes and endocrinology.

My particular areas of expertise are in the management of obesity, type 2 diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome.

I trained at Kings College Hospital in London and the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. My first consultant post in 2001 was at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. Here, I established the multidisciplinary obesity and bariatric surgery service and expanded it to become a regional referral centre. I also developed the one-stop clinic for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome and led numerous innovative initiatives such as the development of the virtual thyroid clinic and the endocrine e-book.

In 2012 I moved to take a position at Imperial College London Diabetes Centre in Abu Dhabi as a Consultant Endocrinologist. I am also Medical Lead for the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Centre and recently established the Diabetes Remission service, the first of its kind in the UAE.

I have authored several papers and textbook chapters including in the Oxford Handbook for Diabetes and Endocrinology. I am also a published author of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (The Facts).

I am co-organiser of several teaching programmes and regularly present at both national and international conferences.

I was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2003 and SCOPE certified by the World Obesity Federation in 2020.

I strive to provide a compassionate, personalised approach to the care of my patients. I firmly believe in a holistic approach to patient care, fully involving the patient in developing a carefully thought out management plan.
